While austenitic stainless steel, Grades 304 and 310 differ significantly in chemical composition. Chromium and nickel are in greater quantities in the 310 than in the 304, giving it more corrosion resistance. Together with that, 310 is harder than 304. As Grade 310 can survive temperatures of up to 2200°F (1200°C), it is significantly more temperature resistant than Grade 304, which can only withstand temperatures of up to 1500°F (815°C).
